Fall 2025 Classes
New Catechumenate
Every other Thursday, beginning September 11
6:30–8:00 PM
The New Catechumenate class offers a meaningful path to deepen your faith in community. This two-year journey is designed to build a resilient faith in Jesus by knowing, believing, and becoming like Him using the Acts 2:42–47 model: Bible study, prayer, meals, and deep fellowship. Sessions take place every other week, with breaks for holidays and summer. Between sessions, participants engage with video teaching, reflect on connected Scriptures, and practice simple spiritual exercises that encourage growth in grace.
Dare to Hope
Sundays, September 14–October 19
5:00–6:30 PM
Life can be painful—but Scripture gives us a language for our sorrow. In this six-week class, we’ll use Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy by Mark Vroegop to explore lament as the biblical and honest expression of grief, disappointment, and longing. Lament is more than sorrow—it’s a prayer of pain that leads to deeper trust in God. Together, we’ll learn how lament helps us face the brokenness around us while holding fast to the goodness of God and the hope of redemption. Join us as we journey through lament and discover how it becomes a pathway to hope.
Origins: How Genesis Shapes the Whole Bible
Sundays, September 14–November 23
5:00–6:30 PM
Dive deep into the book of Genesis not just to revisit familiar stories, but to discover the foundational patterns, promises, and purposes that shape the entire biblical narrative. Together, we’ll explore key themes, trace biblical “hyperlinks,” and learn simple tools to study Scripture with greater depth. Whether you’re new to Bible study or eager to grow, you’ll gain clarity, confidence, and a fresh perspective on God’s Word. Come ready to see Genesis in a whole new way!
Reviving Mission
Sundays, October 12–November 23 (off on Oct. 26)
5:00–6:30 PM
Using the book Reviving Mission, we’ll explore a simple model for following Jesus through the 4Es: Encounter, Explore, Empower, and Establish to live out our mission of “every one, every day helping one another experience life-giving freedom in Jesus.” We’ll study Scripture, pray, and practice becoming people awakened to God’s movement in our neighborhoods, workplaces, communities, and beyond.
Prodigals and Those Who Love Them
Sundays, October 26–November 16
5:00–6:30 PM
This class offers hope and encouragement for those carrying the heartache of a loved one who has wandered from the faith. We’ll use Scripture, the book Prodigals and Those Who Love Them by Ruth Graham Bell, storytelling, and the power of prayer as we entrust our prodigals to God’s pursuing love. Whether you are in a long season of waiting or newly facing this pain, come find comfort, community, and renewed faith as we pray our wayward family members home.
Groups
Groups at Third offer care and support, providing safe, honest spaces to walk with others.
Coffee with Moms
Thursdays, September 4–November 20
9:30–11:00 AM
In the midst of motherhood, it is so important that we take time to be filled so we can love those around us and ourselves as Christ does. This fall, we’ll spend four weeks in the book of Ruth, using practical Bible study tools to discover simple ways to engage Scripture—both together and with our families. For the remainder of the semester, we’ll experience Jesus through Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) and Visio Divina (Divine Seeing)—two prayerful practices that help us slow down, quiet our minds, and tune into His presence. We’ll also continue blessing The Well by preparing meals for various ministries they host weekly.
Mother’s Journey
Tuesdays, beginning September 16
6:00–7:30 PM
Place of Prayer – Room 2
Mother’s Journey provides a space for postpartum moms to gather and support one another. Through sharing experiences, providing emotional support as well as practical advice and tips, this group helps moms navigate the ups and downs of early motherhood with greater resilience and confidence. Our goal is to foster a sense of community, understanding and support with mothers going through similar experiences. Mothers are welcome to come and go to get the support they need.
Hurting Moms, Mending Hearts
Mondays, beginning September 15
6:30–8:00 PM
This group offers a supportive and judgment-free community for moms whose children are making destructive choices, distancing themselves from family, or rejecting taught values. It provides a safe space to share heartache and connect with others facing similar struggles, fostering hope and healing. Participants are encouraged to step out of isolation and find relief from feelings of guilt, shame, anxiety, fear, anger, and disappointment. Through shared experiences and faith, moms learn to surrender their children to God’s care and plan. The program includes 10 weeks of friendship and tools designed to support moms on this challenging journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of Neighborhoods?
Neighborhoods are where every one, every day Jesus happens. These ongoing gatherings are for everyone—creating space to process what we’re learning on Sunday mornings and equipping us to take action and practice what we’re learning throughout the week. Neighborhoods provide a steady, long-term rhythm for growth, connection, and real-life application allowing transformation to happen over time.
What can I expect to do in my Neighborhood?
We will TRAIN in our Neighborhoods through teaching and guided discussions, activating the Word of God. We will BLESS one another in Neighborhoods as we connect in life-giving, missional ways with radical hospitality. And finally, we’ll RECHARGE by seeking God’s presence through prayer, silence, worship, and other practices to activate the Spirit of God to overflow into our everyday lives.
How are Neighborhoods different than classes?
Neighborhoods are ongoing groups for everyone creating space to process what we’re learning on Sunday mornings and practice it in everyday life. They offer:
- Meaningful connection
- Real-life application
- Spiritual growth and transformation over time
Classes are short-term learning opportunities designed to complement—not replace—your Neighborhood experience. Classes help you grow in specific outcomes, equipping you to experience the life-giving freedom of Jesus as a:
- Image Bearer
- Scarred Restorer
- Daily Ambassador
- Known Friend
- Kingdom Partner
Why should I join a Neighborhood?
Responses from a survey conducted at Third Church in 2023 revealed that those who were engaged in community self-reported being more connected to God and to others, essentially experiencing more of Jesus’ life-giving freedom. However, there is a lack of knowing and being known on one’s discipleship journey. Neighborhoods are an opportunity for every one to connect with God and each other as we experience Jesus’ life-giving freedom together.
When do Neighborhoods meet, and how long do they last?
Most Neighborhoods meet on Sunday mornings at church and last between 75–90 minutes. We believe that real discipleship happens when we experience the goodness of the Lord through both corporate worship and meaningful connection with others in a Neighborhood. For those who are unable to attend on Sundays, a few midweek Neighborhood options are also available.
Is there childcare?
Yes! One of the best gifts you can give your kids is your own growing faith, and we want to make it easy for parents and guardians to be part of a Neighborhood by offering childcare during Neighborhood gatherings.
Our THIRD KiDS Come and Stay Sunday morning ministry is a fun, engaging space where your children will experience how good God is—while being loved and cared for by our church family as you worship corporately and connect in a Neighborhood.
Flourishing Families is our Wednesday evening ministry designed to help you step away from the busy routine and reconnect with your family and the Third Church community.
What options are there for my middle/high school student?
Sunday Mornings – Students can attend the Intentionally Intergenerational Neighborhood with their family or serve in areas like THIRD KiDS, Tech, or the Café.
Wednesday Evenings – Students are invited to be part of Third Students, our middle school and high school ministries.
Can I be in more than one Neighborhood?
Sure, but we suggest making one Neighborhood your primary place.
How long will I be in my Neighborhood? When will there be on/off ramps?
Neighborhoods follow the sermon series, with opportunities to join or switch Neighborhoods about 3–4 times a year as new series begin.
Do I have to go to my Neighborhood every week?
Neighborhoods are designed to help us process what we’re learning on Sundays and put it into practice throughout the week. They create a steady rhythm for growth, connection, and real-life transformation over time. While we hope you’ll be there each week as relationships grow, we also understand that life happens—so our invitation is simple: come when you’re here.
What if I’ve only been coming to church for a short time?
Whether you’re exploring faith, new to following Jesus, or have been walking with Him for years, Neighborhoods are for you. At Third, we pursue progress over perfection and believe everyone who worships with us should be part of a Neighborhood. Come as you are—but don’t expect to stay as you are. We anticipate transformation!
What if I’m not connecting with the people in my Neighborhood?
You won’t be best friends with everyone in your Neighborhood—and that’s okay. These groups are meant to be safe, authentic spaces for meaningful conversation and growth. If something isn’t working or a problem arises, please don’t hesitate to talk to your leaders. We’re here to help you feel supported and connected. Plus, there will be opportunities to switch neighborhoods about 3–4 times a year as new sermon series begin.
Are there other benefits (in addition to discipleship) to being part of a Neighborhood?
Yes! In addition to discipleship, Neighborhoods offer:
- Opportunities for outreach and connection beyond your regular gathering time, creating space to serve others and building deeper relationships.
- While our Care Team is still available during life’s crises, Neighborhoods provide a consistent place to receive prayer, encouragement, and support through life’s highs and lows.
- Access to spiritual growth tools, including a free subscription to RightNow Media for all Neighborhood participants.
What’s expected of me while I’m in a Neighborhood?
Neighborhoods provide space to process what we’re learning on Sundays and equip us to put it into practice throughout the week. As a participant, we ask that you commit to showing up and engaging with others in your Neighborhood as often as possible to help support growth, connection, and real-life transformation over time. Additionally, there may be activities like reading, videos, or prayer exercises to enhance the teaching that can be done outside of Neighborhood time, but these are optional.
What if I travel a lot, am a snowbird, or have children on club sports teams and can’t be in a Neighborhood each week?
We don’t want travel or busy schedules to hinder your growth in love for God and others. Come to your Neighborhood as you’re able, and we’ll help you stay connected through follow-up emails and access to teaching videos on RightNow Media, which you can watch anytime, anywhere—whether you’re away for a few days, weeks, or months.
